Timeline
The Agroecosystems Research Grant timeline is:
Preproposals
- The preproposal is a brief concept document that is submitted online, usually in the late spring or summer.
- The SARE Administrative Council decides which preproposals will progress to full proposals soon after the deadline.
- Applicants whose projects have been selected to proceed will be notified promptly.
Full proposals
- Full proposals are due in the fall, usually late October or early November.
- Reviewers contact applicants by telephone in November or December to ask any questions they may have about the project
- Finalists for funding will are invited to a face-to-face interview in late January or early February.
- Reviewers present their recommendations to the SARE Administrative Council in late February or early March
- Applicants learn in March whether their project was funded or not.
Grant contract, funds and project length
- The grant contract is drawn up during April and May
- Funds are usually available in May
- The maximum performance period on any given contract is four years.
- Only projects that are proceeding well will be offered a second round of funding.
