How To Apply

Important steps in applying for this grant

  1. Download and read How to Write a SARE Farmer Grant (see the "for applicants" box to your right) or call 802-656-0471 to request a printed version.
  2. Find out what Northeast SARE has funded in your interest area. Is your idea new, interesting, and addressing an important question about sustainable farming?
  3. Discuss your plan with a technical advisor. This is often a field agent, crop consultant, or other service provider.
  4. Download the application materials from this web site or call 802-656-0471 to request a printed version.
  5. Write your responses to the seven questions in the application booklet.
  6. Develop a budget that reflects the costs involved in what you plan to do.
  7. Ask your technical advisor to read and comment on both the narrative and the budget parts of your proposal.
  8. Make revisions.
  9. Take the revised application to your technical advisor for final review and signoff.
  10. Send the application materials to Northeast SARE on or before the postmark deadline.
