Sustainable Community Grant Examples

The shortage of qualified and affordable farm labor, combined with a lack of key farm infrastructure that supports labor and farm expansion, are barriers to growth in the agricultural sector. The project manager will do a needs assessment and feasibility study that will gather data on farmer preferences, fair wages, and other information to be incorporated into a farm labor training program. Outreach will be through a public forum with farmers, county officials, community members, and organizational leaders, and through materials to support replication in other communities.
