While black farmers struggle to keep farming a viable full-time occupation, there are unmet nutritional and food-access needs in Philadelphia. The project manager will develop marketing and distribution partnerships between farmers and urban institutions and organize a food buying club that targets urban community groups. Other components include positioning black farmers to supply materials for value-added natural soaps, oils, ornaments, and other high-value items, creating a web-based inventory and payment interface, and training farmers and urban entrepreneurs to explore shared opportunities.
