State Programs

SARE believes that there is no single formula for making agriculture sustainable, and that sustainable practices vary according to location and situation. Sixteen land-grant colleges and universities across the region deliver programming and education in sustainable agriculture that is shaped by local needs.

Each state program also has one or more state coordinators who provide information on SARE grant programs, local sustainable agriculture initiatives, technical support, resources, and referrals. State coordinators may also offer training for agricultural service providers, farmers, and others in sustainable agriculture methods.

The Northeast SARE region is made up of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.

For more information on individual state programs, use the state list on the left. There you will find details on who coordinates each state program, as well as information on current state initiatives and past accomplishments.

You can also get grant summaries that give an overview of SARE investment state by state.
